Book Review: Sweet Chaos, The Grateful Dead's American Adventure by Carol Brightman

If a departedhead was to read sing Brightmans book Sweet inferno: The welcome Deads American back, they would be in for a owing(p) pile of disappointment. This book is not ab pop the Dead, rather, it is about Carol Brightmans mid-sixties adventures. People love to talk about themselves, and Brightman has name a venue for her tales of radicalism. By putting a characterization of the gratifying Dead on the cover of her book, with no bring up to the true limit, one would assume they are about to scrape up on an adventure led by the welcome Dead. Brightman has sophisticate her reader and brought them into her chaotic collage of anecdotes. For a book that very fulfills the criteria of adventures of the Grateful Dead, read former manager Rock Scullys accounting system in Living with the Dead. Brightman criticizes this book for its inability to notice distributively other managers, but its name is not misleading and its contents are in fact about the Dead. After al l, windup to people would rather take heed stories about how the Dead relegate everyones drinks with acid on Hugh Hefners talk show in the 70s than hear about Brightmans ingest psychedelic experimentation. As Brightman points out in her foreword, an fantastic college professor has suggested that the book be retitled The Grateful Deads American Adventure and Mine.

This title rightly includes Brightman, but lets go further by removing the picture of the Grateful Dead on the cover and commute it with Brightmans. After all, isnt that the point of her book, to bring her own adventures into the light? She does cert ify the reader that she has not been able to! stick an adequate title for this book, which is inexcusable because she has clearly mislead her readers in order to allot her miserable excuse for a Grateful Dead...
